Luteal Loop

Luteal Loop is a menstrual health and symptom management application designed to support individuals living with PMDD, PMS, and other hormone-related conditions. While many period tracking apps focus primarily on cycle prediction, Luteal Loop aims to provide users with a deeper understanding of their symptoms by helping them identify patterns, track emotional and physical changes, and access personalized resources throughout their cycle.

The goal of this project was to create a supportive and intuitive experience that empowers users to better understand their health and make informed decisions based on their unique symptom patterns.

Challenge

Individuals experiencing PMDD, PMS, and other menstrual health disorders often struggle to find tools that go beyond basic period tracking. Existing solutions frequently focus on logging symptoms without providing meaningful context or actionable insights.

The challenge was to design an experience that helps users better understand their symptoms, recognize recurring patterns, and access personalized support in a way that feels approachable, empowering, and easy to use.

Results

Luteal Loop was designed as a holistic symptom management platform that combines cycle tracking, symptom journaling, educational resources, and personalized wellness recommendations within a single experience.

The concept focuses on helping users transform symptom tracking into actionable insights by providing a centralized space to monitor emotional and physical well-being, visualize patterns over time, and access relevant content tailored to their needs.

Process

Research & Discovery

The project began with researching PMDD, PMS, and related menstrual health conditions to better understand the challenges users face when managing symptoms. This phase focused on identifying gaps in existing period-tracking applications and opportunities to provide more personalized support.

Creative Concept Development

Using research insights, I developed the core concept for Luteal Loop, defining the application's purpose, feature set, and overall user experience. Special attention was given to creating an experience that felt supportive, informative, and approachable for users navigating sensitive health concerns.

Wireframing

Low-fidelity wireframes were created to establish the application's structure, user flows, and information hierarchy. This phase focused on organizing symptom tracking, wellness resources, and cycle insights into a cohesive and intuitive experience.

Prototyping

Interactive prototypes were developed to demonstrate key user journeys and validate the overall concept. The prototype focused on core features such as symptom logging, cycle tracking, personalized recommendations, and educational content.

Conclusion

Luteal Loop explores how thoughtful UX design can support individuals managing complex menstrual health conditions. By combining research-driven insights with a user-centered design process, the project demonstrates how digital health experiences can move beyond simple tracking to provide meaningful support, education, and empowerment throughout a user's cycle.
